The Soyuz TMA-01M rocket launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan this Thursday.

The Soyuz series of rockets were originially Soviet-built, and this flight is the 107th for the Soyuz rockets. I post not only because of the fantastic image about, but also because this may be the last of the Soyuz rockets with Федеральное космическое агентство России planning on replacing them with the Kliper and Parom rockets.

Within a matter of hours after launch, three of the “Expedition 25” crew were with the The International Space Station where the craft is currently docked.

Photos and videos from the launch, some of which can be seen at NASA images, were quite spectacular.
