An interesting “acquisition” has just been made by MoMA: a set of 23 typefaces. Raising and perhaps provoking questions about ownership in our virtual age, the collection features several ground-breaking typefaces alongside a number of rather banal “characters”. They will all be on display, somehow, in MoMA‘s Contemporary Design exhibition Standard Deviations which opens on 2nd March.

You can find out more about the individual “pieces” by searching for your favourite fonts (including Oakland, Big Caslon and Dead History) at MoMA’s great online gallery The Collection.

Any thoughts?
