Conor Harrington // Dead Meat

While last decade it used to be a gallery I would visit almost every fortnight, Lazarides stopped putting on brilliant exhibitions at some point. I suppose Steve has had other stuff to be getting busy with over the past couple of years, so perhaps that explains the drop in quality, but this is a shame since my routine was broken, and I have neglected to visit a couple of the last shows which I am sure were quite great.

In any case, a forthcoming show at their Rathbone St gallery which I will be certain not to miss is Conor Harrington’s Dead Meat starting at the beginning of March. Until now Conor’s body of work has featured military re-enactors (not “battle scenes” as the gallery’s shockingly mis-informed and mis-spelled press release claims), and many of his paintings have been among my favourite pieces of the past 6 or 7 years.

Look out for Conor’s street pieces in London, New York and Dublin, since they are often much rawer than his pieces on canvas.

Any thoughts?
