Anthony Lister // Heroes

Anthony Lister is another extremely prolific street artist, but one of the few whose work is almost exclusively figurative. His latest gallery show stretches across both of Lazarides’ Outsiders galleries (Soho and Newcastle), and presents some brilliant work. Much of the Australian artist‘s off-street work has drawn on ‘superhero’ imagery, but the current show, entitled Unslung Heroes thankfully steers clear of these themes, as much of his street work has done for a while. There are several nuts murals across London at the moment (in unfortunately predictable locations), so keep your x-ray eyes out.

The pictured piece was painted on Brisbane’s Powerhouse last NYE.

Like another troublesome (LA-based, billionaire) street artist, David Choe, Lister has had a film made about him and his work. But like Choe’s film, only the (I hope tongue-in-cheek) trailer has ever seen the light of day:
