River of Fundament // Matthew Barney / Jonathan Bepler

I won’t say much, not least because I have been left a little speechless by it, but River of Fundament is completely insane and utterly unmissable. An operatic film of epic proportions, there is a single screening of it left in London tomorrow (the first was today), and there is little sign of when it will ever be shown again.

Over six hours, the story is set in New York City, Los Angeles and Detroit, but encompasses the rarely cited ancient Egyptian myths of Isis and Osiris. Much use is made of ‘passages and thoroughfares’.

It is basically sold out, but there were plenty of people selling spare tickets today. Do go.

Any thoughts?
