Zhu Jinshi // Boat / Hong Kong

Zhu Jinshi’s marvellous Boat, is currently on display in Exchange Square in Central, Hong Kong. I saw Boat, which is made up of 12,000 sheets of Chinese xuan paper, in London a couple of years ago (the shot above is from its installation at Olympia), and was lucky enough to interview Zhu for Elephant Magazine last year. Zhu works in a variety of media, and is perhaps best known for his deliciously thick abstract oil paintings, but has also completed a number of monumental works using the same type of rice paper used in Boat.

If you are passing through Honkers before Tuesday 31st March, do try and take a quick one upon the Boat.

Any thoughts?
